Ladies- Which kind of engagement ring would you rather have? A big diamond or small diamond w/ 2 other stones?
I have my choice of engagement rings for my gf down to two ideas. But I need some help deciding which to get.
I will be spending about $5000.
I could get a 1 carat diamond with a platinum ring that has an ideal cut, good color and clarity for about $5000
OR
I could get a smaller diamond (about .7 carats) that will still have the same nice balance of color, clarity, cut, etc. But then it would also have 2 rubies, one on each side of the diamond. Both of our birthdays are in July so that's why I was thinking of putting our birthstones into the ring.
She really likes her birthstone so she already has a TON of ruby jewerly. Earnings, rings, necklaces, etc.
Do you think I should get yet another piece of jewerly for her that has rubies or do you think she would like it better if I just got the bigger diamond?

If you can find a wedding set as you describe, that would be lovely - otherwise it might be hard to match/fit a band with just any fashion gemstone ring.
